New Grinder Pump Case Study in Water & Wastes Digest

The July issue of Water & Wastes Digest features a cover article about E/One grinder pumps.
The Querencia resort in Baja Sur, Mexico

Querencia, Baja Sur, Mexico, is a gorgeous site at the tip of the Baja California peninsula. While the resort is upscale with no amenity spared, the topography and delicate ecosystem proved challenging. The area is solid rock, so burying large pipes for a gravity sewer system would be costly (likely millions of dollars) and devastating to the various cactus and palo blanco trees.

The E/One pressure sewer system uses flexible pipes that require only shallow burial (just below the frost line) and follow the contour of the land. Elevations in Querencia vary from 114 feet to 738 feet. E/One grinder pumps can produced the head required, with a maximum TDH of 185 ft.

  1. You are totally right when you said gorgeous site at the tip of the Baja California peninsula, it is gorgeous! I'm all for modernity and beauty but it's kind of sad that various cactus and palo blanco trees are affected :/

    1. Dave, we're glad you enjoyed the article! The beauty of the E/One Sewer system is that the fragile ecosystem would be preserved. Trenching into the bedrock for LPS lines is far less disruptive than digging for a gravity sewer -- there's really no comparison. Check out this video from a builder in Arizona, who also installed in bedrock (and had experience with gravity):
